International Feature Film Competition

Erica Barbiani is a film producer, writer, and story editor. After earning a PhD in Sociology, she founded Videomante in 2004, a production company dedicated to creative documentaries for the international audiovisual market. Her produced films include The Special Need by Carlo Zoratti—which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, won awards at SXSW Austin, Doc Leipzig, and Zagreb DOX, and was selected for over sixty international festivals; The Good Life, the directorial debut of Niccolò Ammaniti, distributed by Feltrinelli; and La Villa by Claudia Brignone, co-produced with RAI Cinema and presented at the Rome Film Fest. Recent productions include Wishing on a Star (2024) by Peter Kerekes—a documentary co-written by Barbiani and co-produced with partners in Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Croatia, and Taiwan—which premiered at the Venice Film Festival (Orizzonti section) and was selected for seventy other international festivals; and Fiume o Morte! (2025) by Igor Bezinović, produced with Restart (Croatia) and Nosorogi (Slovenia), which won the Tiger Award and the FIPRESCI Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and was recently named Best European Documentary by the European Film Academy. Alongside her production work, Barbiani serves as a tutor for the Torino Film Lab’s TFL NEXT workshop and as an editorial advisor for the First Cut Lab program.
