Oskar Alegria served as artistic director of the Punto de Vista International Film Festival in Pamplona-Navarra from 2013 to 2016. His debut film, Emak Bakia baita (2012)—which chronicles the search for the house on the Basque coast where Man Ray filmed Emak Bakia—was screened at festivals including BAFICI, Edinburgh, Telluride, San Sebastián, Shanghai, Yamagata, Doclisboa, San Francisco, and Denver; it was translated into 16 languages ​​and won 17 awards. His second feature, Zumiriki (2019)—the story of an island submerged in the river of his childhood—premiered in the Orizzonti section of the Venice Film Festival and won the award for Best Non-Fiction Film at the Seville European Film Festival. He recently completed his latest feature, Zinzindurrunkarratz (2023), which documents the rediscovery of an ancient, forgotten shepherd's path; shot on an old Super 8 camera, the film won awards at the Festival dei Popoli in Florence and DOC NYC in New York.
