Through the voices and faces of those who make up Les Soulèvements de la Terre, Thomas Lacoste crafts an intimate portrait of one of Europe’s most significant environmental movements. Farmers, local residents and activists recount their struggles against land grabbing, large-scale infrastructure projects and the destruction of ecosystems, while experimenting with new forms of political thought, collective action and relationships with the living world. With profound humanity, Uprising documents and historicizes a movement often portrayed as radical, exploring its motivations, its bonds and its practices of resistance against the extractivist and ecocidal logic of the dominant economic model.

Thomas Lacoste was born in Bordeaux in 1972. He is a filmmaker, editor and essayist, and has worked for over twenty-five years at the intersection of political philosophy, the humanities and artistic practices. Uprising is presented in its Italian premiere at the Euganea Film Festival, following its theatrical release in France in February 2026.
