XXIV Edition, 4th to 14th September 2025 Euganean Hills (Padua/Italy) Deadline submissions: 31st March 2025

1 – INTRODUCTION

Euganea Film Festival is organized by Euganea Movie Movement, based in Monselice (Padua, Italy). The Festival promotes awareness of cinematographic culture while fostering an understanding of issues related to climate change, cultural diversity, and the rural world. The 24th edition of the Euganea Film Festival will take place in the Euganean Hills, between Este and Monselice (Padua, Italy), from September 4 to 14, 2025.

1.1 – Sections

The Official Program includes the following sections: INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILM COMPETITION: open to films of any genre with a runtime exceeding 41 minutes, competing for the Best Feature Film Award. INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION: open to films of any genre with a runtime of 41 minutes or less, competing for the Best Short Film Award. EFF HAB: a non-competitive section showcasing films of all genres and formats that aim to raise awareness about environmental issues and sustainable practices. EFF KIDS: a selection of films of any genre and runtime designed for young audiences (6+ and 10+), competing for the Kids' Award. The Festival also reserves the right to include additional special screenings and non-competitive programs, regardless of content or year of production.

1.2 – Awards & Juries Official Awards. The Festival Direction will nominate two qualified and independent juries to assign the following awards: EFF 2024 Best Feature Film Award, including 1000€ cash prize. EFF 2024 Best Short Film Award, including 500€ cash prize. EFF 2024 Jury Award for the best directing in the Feature Film Competition. EFF 2024 Jury Award for the best directing in the Short Film Competition. The juries also reserve the right to assign additional prizes to works in competition. Cash prizes will be paid to the rightful holders after 1st December 2025. Special Awards. The following special prizes will be awarded during the Festival: ZaLab Award: to which all documentaries in the official selection compete, including online distribution on the zalabview.org platform. Audience Award: to which all films in the official selection compete, awarded by audience vote. Cinemambulante Award: awarded by a jury of students from Festival partner schools. Kids’ Award: to which all films in the EFF KIDS section compete, awarded by young audience vote.

2 – SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

2.1 – General Regulations

Only films addressing at least one of the following themes will be considered for selection: environmental protection and sustainable development; understanding of territories, peoples, and cultures; and awareness of rural areas and the agricultural world. Eligible works must be completed after January 1, 2023. Submission deadline: Films must be registered, and selection screeners received, by March 31, 2025. Films can be submitted via the online form available at www.euganeafilmfestival.it, following the provided instructions. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address provided during registration. By submitting the online form, applicants agree to accept the festival’s guidelines in full. Password-protected and unlisted screener links are accepted from all hosting platforms, including Vimeo, YouTube, Google Drive, and Dropbox. Download links or temporary links from WeTransfer or other file transfer methods will not be accepted. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the screening link is functional, correctly subtitled, and valid at the time of submission and throughout the entire selection process. Passwords or file locations should not be changed after submission. If the link expires or the password is incorrect, the application cannot be considered. Films in any language other than English or Italian must include subtitles in either English or Italian to be considered. Films submitted to and reviewed for previous editions of the Euganea Film Festival and already premiered online are not eligible for resubmission.

2.2 – Processing Fee

Films will be considered for selection only after payment of a submission fee. The fee is non-refundable, even if the film is not selected or does not comply with the submission guidelines. The fee is flexible, with a minimum required amount of: feature-length film: 5€; short films: 3€. Payment methods: The submission fee can only be paid online at the end of the film registration process.

2.3 – Declaration of Rights Upon Submission of the Film

The Euganea Film Festival will only accept the submission of a film if the submitter holds all usage rights to the film necessary for the submission and its use within the context of participation in the Euganea Film Festival, as specified in paragraph 1 of the Regulation, and if the submitter can effectively grant these rights to the Festival. The Festival reserves the right to demand appropriate proof of these rights and to reject the submission upon failure to provide it.

3 – GUIDELINES FOR SELECTED FILMS

Admission to the competition is at the sole discretion of the Festival Direction, supported by the Selection Committee. The authors, production companies, or distributors of the selected works must comply with the Festival's organizational secretariat specifications for print traffic. Additionally, the following materials must be submitted for inclusion in the Festival catalog: 3 stills from the film; a synopsis; a technical data sheet; and a bio-filmography of the director(s). The festival organizational secretariat will promptly inform the authors of selected works about the schedule of events and screenings. All applicants will receive written notification regarding the selection process results. However, due to the high volume of submissions, the Euganea Film Festival cannot provide individual feedback on selection decisions. For films with non-Italian audio, a dialogue list in Italian or English must be provided to prepare subtitles. Failure to provide this will result in automatic disqualification. Authorization: By submitting a film, directors, producers, or rights holders authorize the following: Publication of their information on the Festival website and in its catalog. Distribution of this information to the press for promotional purposes. Subscription to the Festival’s mailing list under legal regulations.

4 – PERSONAL DATA TREATMENT

This information is provided in compliance with Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003, the “Data Privacy Code.” The Euganea Movie Movement, as data controller and/or processor, informs you that the personal data provided through the entry form will be processed either manually or electronically. This data will be used exclusively for purposes related to the Film Festival, including the dissemination of information about the Euganea Film Festival, which may also be sent via email. Under Article 7 and subsequent provisions of the Italian Data Privacy Code, you have the right to confirm whether we hold any of your data; request updates, corrections, or additions to your data; request the blocking or deletion of your data in cases of legal non-compliance or if its retention is no longer necessary; oppose the processing of your data for legitimate reasons.
