<p><em>Whale From Lorino</em> is a film about the descendants of the oldest of Siberian tribes on the far away land of Chukotka. For them, the yearly hunt for the endangered whale is not only a tradition, but a necessity for surviving winter in a fragile place devastated by Soviet influence. The clash of two disappearing worlds; Chukchis civilisation and the universe of monumental and majestic whales in a story about the paradox of history and a harsh fight for survival. </p>
<p>Maciej Cuske (1972, Bydgoszcz, Polonia) is a graduate of the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing in Warsaw. He started as an amateur <em>What do you think about it, Gałuszko? </em>and <em>12000 kilometres</em>, during his studies he participated in the production of <em>Silence</em> (2003). <em>The Cure</em> (2004), <em>Old Book Store</em> (2005) and <em>The Suburban Train</em> (2007) were awarded at the Krakow Film Festival. He is also the author of documentaries: <em>Ahoy</em> (2006), <em>Katyń. 60 Days on the Film Set</em> (2007), <em>In the Sky, On Earth</em> (2007). An award winner at the festivals, among others, in Győr, Paris, Cieszyn, Łagów, Wrocław and Toruń. </p>
