Gabriella Choueifaty

Gabriella is a French-Lebanese filmmaker who lives between Paris and Beirut. After studying modern literature and cinema, fascinated by images and photography, in 2015 she began to work as camera assistant on a number of short and feature films. Thanks to this experience, she went on to direct her first short film 2006, which was selected by the WarshatAflam scriptwriting workshop at Rencontres des Cinémas arabes in Marseille in 2018. She followed a two-year tutoring programme where she met her producer Jérôme Nunes – Films de Force Majeure (France). Together they pitched the project at Euro Connection in 2022 as part of Clermont-Ferrand Int. short film festival, prior to shooting the film in 2023 in Lebanon in coproduction with Né à Beyrouth. The film was supported by Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France 2 television, OIF (Int. Organisation of La Francophonie), MEDIA, The City of Marseille and Procirep-Angoa and had its world premiere at Winterthur, before is European premiere at Zinebi in 2024.

After working as camera assistant on a number of shoots, she went on to direct her 1st short film, 2006.
