Nocturnes
83 min
In the dense forests of the Eastern Himalayas, on the border between India and Bhutan, two researchers explore the hidden world of moths. Guided by light through the darkness, they embark on a scientific and sensory expedition to decode the messages of these nocturnal creatures. Nocturnes is an immersive and poetic film that transports us to a little-known ecological “hot spot,” inviting us to rediscover the deep connections that bind all forms of life on Earth.
Anirban Dutta and Anupama Srinivasan are Indian filmmakers and multidisciplinary artists. They co-directed Flickering Lights and Nocturnes, selected at Sundance, IDFA, and HotDocs. Nocturnes received the Jury Award at Sundance and the Best Cinematography Award at IDFA.
