In 1995, twelve-year-old Almina leaves Sarajevo with her parents and younger brother as the war in Bosnia appears to be drawing to a close. The family arrives in Francavilla al Mare, on Italy’s Adriatic coast, expecting to stay only for a short holiday. But what was meant to be a temporary stay gradually becomes a new life. Through Almina’s story, Endless Holiday explores the condition of those who have left a place without ever fully ceasing to belong to it. Moving between personal memory and collective history, the film inhabits the suspended time of exile, tracing the relationship with an interrupted past and the construction of an identity between two countries. An intimate reflection on the meaning of home, the longing to return, and the lasting traces left by forced migration.

Davor Marinković is a film director born in Yugoslavia and raised in Italy. His short documentary Reznica (2022) has been presented at several festivals, including the Sarajevo Film Festival, Beldocs, and Euganea Film Festival.
