A poetic journey into hidden Italy, far from dominant narratives. Canone Effimero explores the cultural resistance found in solitary makers of ancient instruments, polyphonic choirs, and passed-down traditions. Through eleven musical chapters, the De Serio brothers piece together a fragile mosaic of memories, voices, and landscapes, refocusing on marginalized rural cultures. The result is a collective diary, an open code to be completed: a canon, yes, but an ephemeral one, balanced between disappearance and rebirth.
Born in Turin in 1978, the twins Massimiliano and Gianluca De Serio have collaborated since 1999 on films, documentaries, installations, and theatre productions. Their acclaimed work includes the feature Spaccapietre (Venice Days 2020) and their award-winning fiction debut Sette opere di misericordia (Locarno 2011).
