Thus Marina struggles incessantly with her double identity and alternates moments of malaise with moments of madness. Despite her paranoia, which gradually worsens, she falls in love with Corrado Silla, writer of a novel with gothic features, who reciprocates her despite her quirks.

Lyda Borelli, film and theatre actress, was born in La Spezia in 1887. She made her debut at the age of 14 in the Drammatica Compagnia Italiana and two years later joined the important Italian Theatre Company Talli - Gramatica - Calabresi. Borelli was one of the first silent film divas, representing the ideal of Art Nouveau femininity on screen. This was emphasised by the lyrical gestures that immediately became emblematic of her acting style. In 1918 she married Count Vittorio Cini and left the stage to devote herself to her family.

Daniele Furlati is a composer and pianist. For cinema, he and Marco Biscarini are co-authors of the music for multiple award-winning feature films, including Il vento fa il suo giro (2005), L'uomo che verrà (2009) e Un giorno devi andare (2013).
